The Asahi Kasei Board of Directors today appointed Shiro Hiruta to succeed Kazumoto Yamamoto as President, effective April 1, 2003. Shiro Hiruta presently serves as Executive Vice President of Asahi Kasei.
Under President Yamamoto’s leadership, Asahi Kasei has advanced a program of corporate transformation to prepare a solid foundation for development and growth. Mr. Hiruta’s assumption of office will coincide with the adoption of the new Ishin-05 Corporate Midrange Strategic Initiative at the beginning of the new fiscal year in April 2003. Dr. Yamamoto will serve as Vice Chairman of the Board beginning on April 1, in which capacity his advice and counsel will support the initiation of the Ishin-05 program under Mr. Hiruta’s leadership.
