Commercial start-up of joint venture in Korea for acrylic sheet for light-guide panels

Delaglas Korea Corporation, a joint venture of Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corporation, Raygen Co., Ltd., and Samsung Corporation for production and sale of acrylic sheet for light-guide panels used in liquid-crystal display backlight units, has completed construction of its acrylic sheet plant with commercial operation beginning on November 1. A ceremony celebrating the commissioning of the new plant followed on November 20.

Asahi Kasei Chemicals produces Delaglas™ acrylic sheet for light-guide panels in Japan, with the market in Korea being among the world’s largest. The new plant of Delaglas Korea raises production capacity in close proximity to user demand, and enables further enhancement of cost competitiveness.
