Agreement for co-promotion of Voltaren*
|
On April 11, 2005, Novartis Pharma K.K. and Asahi
Kasei Pharma concluded an agreement for the two
companies to co-promote Voltaren in Japan beginning
in June 2005. Novartis Pharma’s Voltaren,
or diclofenac sodium, is a widely used nonsteroidal
anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
The agreement provides for the co-promotion of several
dosing forms of Voltaren, including tablet, suppository,
capsule, and gel. The co-promotion of Voltaren tape
is under consideration.
For Novartis Pharma, the agreement will enable increased
sales of Voltaren by utilizing the established strengths
of Asahi Kasei Pharma in the field of orthopedics.
For Asahi Kasei Pharma, it will enable a reinforcement
and enhancement of its presence and position in
this field.
* Voltaren is a trademark of Novartis.
