AKM Rolls Out New Brands for Audio Product Families

In April 2006 Asahi Kasei Microsystems (AKM), wholly owned subsidiary of Asahi Kasei EMD, will launch three new lineups for its digital audio IC products, each branded for a specific application segment in the field of digital audio.
The three new brands – Audio2go™ for mobile applications, Audio4home™ for consumer electronics, and Audio4pro™ for pro audio – will bring clear identification and enhanced customer recognition for products which meet the latest emerging needs for multifunctionality and high sound quality in each segment, extending AKM’s presence in the growing markets for high performance digital audio chips.
As a specialized semiconductor producer focused on core technology and know-how in the field of digital/analog mixed-signal CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) design and processing, AKM produces a range of custom LSIs (large-scale integrated circuits) and ASSPs (application-specific standard products) used by the world’s leading electronics manufacturers. This family of products features low power consumption, low-voltage operation, high sound quality, and a wide range of functions integrated into a small package - simplifying the design of mobile audio devices which meet in today's rising audio performance demands.
Cell phones, mp3 players, and portable media players are just some of the possible applications.
The latest Audio2go™ chip, AK4643, will go on sale in April 2006. Incorporating microphone input, line output, headphone output, and a speaker amplifier into a single-chip solution, this product meets the need for greater functionality integrated in a small package, ideal for portable audio.
Audio4home™
The Audio4home™ product family brings superior sound quality to a range of audio-visual equipment. Digital TVs, home theater systems, and DVD recorders are just some of the possible applications.
