Ever since the time of our founding, Asahi Kasei has continually grown through the concept of open innovation, including licensing technology for the Casale process to manufacture synthetic ammonia for the first time in Japan in 1923.
We have proactively diversified and transformed our business portfolio throughout our history of over 100 years, and are currently promoting open business development and R&D in the three sectors of Material, Homes, and Health Care, collaborating widely both inside and outside the company.
We will continue “Creating for Tomorrow” by accelerating co-creation and collaboration utilizing our diversified businesses, diversity of human resources, and distinctive technologies cultivated along with changes in the economy, society, and the environment.

TBC(Technology value Business Creation)##03
Asahi Kasei promotes initiatives known as Technology value Business Creation (TBC)—an approach to business creation that aims to maximize value for customers, co-creation partners, and Asahi Kasei itself, through collaboration in addition to leveraging internal resources.
In TBC, we create new businesses by combining Asahi Kasei’s accumulated intangible assets—such as patents, know-how, data, and algorithms—as well as expertise in technology commercialization cultivated through many years of research, development, and business creation, with the tangible and intangible assets held by our co-creation partners.
Through this approach, co-creation partners can work together with Asahi Kasei to promote co-creation that contributes to shorter business development timelines, as well as to the acquisition of new core technologies and business creation models.
Details on the background behind the launch of TBC activities, the value we offer, examples of technologies we handle, and actual co-creation case studies are available on the dedicated TBC website below.
