Asahi Kasei and Asahi Kasei Medical announce the opening of the Asahi Kasei (China) Bioprocess Technical Center (CBTC) in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China, on November 23, 2023.
The bioprocess business of Asahi Kasei Medical, comprising bioprocess-related products used in the manufacture of biotherapeutics, biosafety testing services, and biopharmaceutical CDMO business, is one of the Asahi Kasei Group's "10 Growth Gears" (GG10) businesses to drive future growth.
As an affiliate of Asahi Kasei Medical, Asahi Kasei Bioprocess (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (AKBC) performs the import and sale of Planova™ virus removal filters, BioOptimal™ microfilters, and related equipment, to pharmaceutical companies in China. As an affiliate of Asahi Kasei, Asahi Kasei Microza (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. (AKMH) performs marketing in China for Microza™ modules based on hollow-fiber filtration, which is a core technology of the Asahi Kasei Group.
Asahi Kasei and Asahi Kasei Medical established CBTC in order to provide greater value to customers in the Chinese pharmaceutical industry by performing practical tests and technical support with both bioprocess products and Microza™ products, combining the strengths of the two businesses to meet customer needs.
The bioprocess business will continue to pioneer contributions to safety and productivity in the manufacture of biotherapeutics, while further leveraging Asahi Kasei's high-level technology for ultrafiltration and microfiltration.
