Asahi Kasei filed litigation for infringement of patent rights of Duranol™ in China

On March 25, 2026, Asahi Kasei filed litigation for infringement of its Chinese patent rights at the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court in China against Shanghai Songxuan New Materials Co., Ltd. (Songxuan), located in Shanghai, and Huizhou Changlong Chemical Co., Ltd (Changlong), located in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province.
This litigation seeks injunction against the manufacture and sale of relevant products by Songxuan and Changlong and compensation for damages based on Asahi Kasei’s Chinese patent rights related to water-based grades of Duranol™ polycarbonate diol.
In 2022, Asahi Kasei filed litigation for infringement of the same patent rights against another Chinese company at the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court, and obtained a favorable final judgment.
In addition to the patent rights regarding water-based polycarbonate diol, Asahi Kasei has established a patent portfolio covering various aspects of polycarbonate diol.
