Asahi Kasei holds First Priority Business Briefing
January 8, 2026
Asahi Kasei Corp.
The Asahi Kasei Group is advancing a strategic transformation of its business portfolio under the “Trailblaze Together” medium-term management plan (MTP) for fiscal 2025–2027, including structural reform from a best-owner perspective, collaboration with other companies, and reallocation of management resources, while further investing in businesses identified as growth areas.
The First Priority Business Briefing is held to gain better understanding among the media and institutional investors of Asahi Kasei’s four “First Priority” businesses of Pharmaceuticals, Critical Care, Overseas Homes, and Electronics, which are positioned as key drivers of growth toward the fiscal 2027 operating income target of ¥270 billion.
Please refer to the presentation material for further details.
1) First Priority businesses
Under the MTP, businesses are classified in 4 categories to clarify their orientation in the business portfolio and the strategy of each business. First Priority businesses are designated for proactive resource allocation to drive group-wide income growth.
Pharmaceuticals
The Pharmaceuticals business will gain firm earnings growth in disease areas where the company enjoys strengths by leveraging the acquired companies Veloxis and Calliditas as growth drivers while continuing to pursue M&A and in-licensing opportunities.
Critical Care
The Critical Care business, centered on defibrillators and other emergency medical devices, will continue to achieve growth in North America while pursuing new growth opportunities in peripheral areas.
Overseas Homes
The North American operation will extend its distinctive business model while expanding into new regions. The Australian operation will increase market share through continued investments, including real estate development.
Electronics
With growing demand for electronic materials in AI-related applications, the Electronics business will expand by leveraging Asahi Kasei’s proprietary technologies for materials used in semiconductor manufacturing processes.
2) Increased income from First Priority businesses up to fiscal 2027
Under the MTP, Asahi Kasei is targeting operating income of ¥270 billion in fiscal 2027. Approximately ¥60 billion of this increase is expected to come from the four First Priority businesses.
Asahi Kasei will continue to advance business portfolio transformation through growth investments and structural reform for the sustainable growth of corporate value.
